Reference for configuration files and locations that can affect Inventor Tools behavior.

Config.json file (Auto Save)

Controls automatic saving. Typical locations:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor [version]\Bin\Addins\InventorTools\Config.json

Version-independent alternative:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Inventor Addins\InventorTools\Config.json

Note: When Inventor closes, EnableAutosave is set to false automatically. Turn it on again from the Auto Save dialog in the next session if you need it.

BOM to PDF configuration

The BOM to PDF module uses a configuration file deployed next to the DLL:

Prj_BOM_to_PDF.dll.config

BOM template (required for export)

Parameter	Description
`BOMPath`	Path to the BOM Import Template (`.xml`). Defines columns and properties of the exported BOM

Set this from BOM to PDF → Settings → BOM Settings → Browse. Without a valid .xml, export fails with "The Default Template file could not be found".

To get the XML:

Export a BOM customization from Inventor (BOM → Export → Customize), or
Use the template provided by MCAD (for example MTC_BOM_Default.xml).

Editing Prj_BOM_to_PDF.dll.config manually requires restarting Inventor. For routine changes, use Settings in the BOM to PDF dialog.

License registry

Only users with administrator permissions can change this key manually. Use Activate License from Inventor.

Usage telemetry

Each tool use (with a valid license) sends an anonymous record to:

https://licensing.mcad.co/api/tool-usage

It includes: user, machine, tool ID, and license key. No user configuration is required.

Manual editing (advanced)

For routine changes, use the Auto Save and BOM to PDF → Config dialogs instead of editing files directly.
