Which Inventor versions are supported?
Inventor Tools requires Autodesk Inventor 2025, 2026, or 2027.
Do I need internet to use the tools?
Yes. An internet connection is recommended for license validation on each session. Without a connection, behavior depends on the cached validation state.
Can I use Inventor Tools without a license?
Only the Activate License button works without a prior license. All other tools require a valid key.
Where do I download MicroCAD Inventor Tools?
From the download page on the MCAD Tools portal. The MSI installer covers Inventor 2025, 2026, and 2027.
Installation and licensing
Why do I need to run as administrator?
Installation writes files to Program Files, and activation stores the key in the system registry (HKLM), which requires elevated permissions.
Can I activate the license on several computers?
It depends on your MCAD contract. Contact support if you need floating or multi-machine licenses.
Where is my license key stored?
In HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\InventorTools2024, value key. See License activation.

Why don't I see all the buttons on the ribbon?
Buttons change with the active document type. See The MicroCAD ribbon.
Why does BOM to PDF say "The Default Template file could not be found"?
The BOM Import Template File (.xml) is not configured in Settings. The tool needs that XML to know which BOM columns to export. Set it in BOM to PDF → Settings → BOM Settings → Browse. See the BOM to PDF guide.
What is the difference between Copy Assembly and Copy Design?

Does Auto Save replace the original file?
No. It creates backup copies in the configured folder according to version-retention rules.
Can I use Drawing Generator without an open assembly?
Yes, in folder mode: select a folder with .ipt/.iam files instead of the active assembly.
